How To Light Your Smokeless Firepit
How to light your Smokeless firepit
Lighting a smokeless firepit is easier than you might think! Whether your Smokeless Firepit is new, or if you’re looking for a quick refresher, this step-by-step guide will walk you through how to light your Smokeless firepit.
How to Light your Smokeless Firepit: A Step-by-Step Guide
1. Prepare Your Smokeless Firepit
Start by ensuring your Smokeless firepit is set up correctly and clear of debris. Remove any ashes or logs from previous fires to keep airflow optimal, or, if it’s new, ensure there aren’t any packaging bits lurking around. Make sure there are no obstructions in the intake vents or the exhaust holes at the top. A clear path for airflow is essential for the Smokeless to burn properly.
2. Place your Smokeless Firepit in the Right Spot:
It's important to place your Smokeless firepit on a flat, level surface so you can make sure that it’s stable (safety first folks!) and that it’ll have proper airflow. Best to check that there aren’t any low-hanging fire hazards above the firepit too - trees, ceilings or long hair (trust us on this one). For the safest and most enjoyable experience, choose a clear, open space that allows for proper ventilation and easy access to the firepit.
3. Lighting your Smokeless Firepit:
Place fire lighter pieces around the outside of your honeycomb shaped grid with one large piece at the centre. Light all of the outer edge pieces first, moving quickly to ensure even distribution of heat all the way around your firepit. (It’s important to light your firepit evenly around its circumference so you don’t risk it warping).
Once you’ve lit your firelighter, start with small pieces of wood or kindling which ignite easily and then move on to larger logs once the fire has taken hold.
4. Allow the Smokeless Firepit to Get Going:
You may see some initial smoke as the fire starts, but this should clear up quickly (usually within 8-10 minutes) as the air circulation system kicks in and the fire reaches optimal smokeless temperatures.
Remember to keep the fire well fed so it can maintain its smokeless temperatures - if you let things die down too much you may start to get a little smoke.
5. Enjoy Your Smokeless Fire!
Once your fire is burning smoothly, sit back, relax, and enjoy!
Key Tips for Lighting Your Smokeless Firepit
-
Use Dry Wood: Always use dry wood to ensure the best performance and minimal smoke (we like to use dry Wattle or Gum). Wet or green wood can cause more smoke and reduce the effectiveness of our Smokeless design.
-
Keep the Airflow Clear: Make sure the intake vents and exhaust holes remain unobstructed to maintain optimal airflow and keep the fire burning efficiently.
-
Clean Regularly: Remove ash and debris from the firepit after each use to prevent blockages and ensure a clean burn every time.
